Scania is pioneering a new advanced cruise control system that uses GPS to read the position of the vehicle and predict the topography of the road ahead, saving up to 3% of fuel in the process.

The cruising speed is adjusted before entering an ascent or descent, helping the driver make the most of every drop of fuel.

Start of sales for Scania Active Prediction is February 2012.
